White Sands Twilight

20x24 oil /linen SOLD This was the largest studio piece i did in New Mexico, based on a small study done just past sunset (o.k. it was actually getting dark) and some photo reference.Although the day was warm, the desert cools considerably as the sun fades behind the Sacremento Mountains.

Old Time Gathering

16x20 oil/linen SOLD Old trucks never cease to be subject matter for me, besides the interesting shapes and colors they offer, they always seem to fit into the natural landscape as well. This scene was taken from the largest collection of junkers (trucks, cars, buses etc) i have ever scene, and ol George there on highway #54 was very gracious about letting me paint there-enjoy

A glorious morning 12 x 16 SOLD You sure didnt see this one from the road, but after a bit of investigating, i found this open area in an arroyo, complete with cliffs, slate, and a little water falls- when the rains come, im told this whole area can fill up with water real fast-be careful!

Slice of Nature

14x18 oil on panelThis is a larger version of a study done on locatin. It just seemed to have all the elements of a scene: light, shadow, form, and color. Painting beside a running stream on a sun filled day in New Mexico isnt bad either

Mr Prickley

9x12 oil on linen SOLDHere is something i dont usually paint, sort of a natural still life if you will, but i thought it went rather well, o.k. at least i had a lot of fun painting it! Have you ever touched one of these guys? I did-last time...oops!

White Sands Cupcake

11x14 oil on canvasmmm.... thats odd, what is it? this is what naturally happens in the constantly shifting sands of NewMexico. Over years the winds remove the sand around this extremely large bush leaving the roots exposed and the compact sand beneath it-the painting probably doesnt do justice to the scale of this thing. It is literally a story and a half high! weird yet wonderful!

New Mexico offers these wonderfully muted color compliments, such as this red and green scene in Tularosa
