Under Painting

This is the underpainting for a Studio version of "Ranchers Gate".I first captured (I hope) this powerful scene just outside Ouray Colorado, on a September morning, during a www.pleiairsouthwest.com paintout. The Agua'tica - Tularosa

As part of the watershed program of New Mexico, the Agua'ticas make up the small water channels that run through the neighborhood, providing irrigation to all.

On July 30th 2010 I opened Jonathan Fine Art http://www.jonathanfineart.com/ in Tularosa New Mexico.

The Gallery is for now featuring my plein air and Studio landscapes. I plan to have guest artists work in the future.

The Gallery shares the space with the Mano y Mente Museum. It features works donated by past program artists.

Hours will be Wednesday-Saturday 12-6

I forgot my camera that day, and the snow soon melted, so my field study was my single reference. That made me confront some challenges while doing the painting- I might add im pleased with the result-
